Sometimes the best ideas start with a lighter in one hand and a half-baked thought in the other. Bare Smoking began with one simple question: Is there a healthier way to enjoy the plant people love? The father-daughter duo behind the company, Paul and Mia, came to cannabis from completely different directions — he for physical wellness, she for mental wellness.
The Bare story begins in 2020 during the COVID lockdown. Paul tried to take one hit from a bong and was unsuccessful. Between the burning in his throat and the intense coughing fit, he didn’t understand how anyone could choose a bong as their preferred smoking device. Mia grabbed him a paper towel and told him to use it to catch some of the irritants that are released in the smoke and he was shocked at how such a small material made a noticeable difference, although it was nowhere near a perfect experience.
That’s when the idea sparked. The inventor in Paul started sketching right away and, with Mia’s help, they began developing the concept in depth. What followed was many years of research, testing, redesigning, improving, and refusing to settle for anything less than a product they’d trust for their own lungs. They wanted a filter that was durable, effective, and designed specifically for smoking.
As their passion grew, they brought on a handful of partners — business associates who specialized in filtration media and believed in the Bare vision. Still, at its core, Bare Smoking remained a father-daughter commitment to making smoking cleaner, safer, and smarter.
After a long development journey and a complete rebrand, Bare Smoking emerged as a company dedicated to helping cannabis users inhale more consciously without sacrificing the joy of the
ritual. The Bare Smoke Filter reflects exactly what Paul and Mia wanted for themselves — a small change that makes a big difference for smokers’ health.
Today, Bare Smoking offers the Bare Smoke Filter along with smarter-smoking tips and ongoing education. And with more wellness-focused products on the horizon, Bare is just getting started— all thanks to a family, a bong, and one truly unforgettable piece of paper towel.

Paul Vegliante
Co-Founder
With decades of experience as an executive in manufacturing, inventing and problem-solving, Paul is the founder of Vegliante IP Technologies, where he has created over 35 patents, many of which are sold and licensed around the world. Paul approaches wellness accessories with the same philosophy he brings to all his inventions: simplicity, effectiveness, and thoughtful design. He continues to guide Bare Smoking’s product development and long-term innovation strategy
Mia Vegliante
Co-Founder
Mia co-founded Bare Smoking while she was still in college getting degrees in communications and management. She started working in marketing and event management at the age of 16 and has applied everything she’s learned over the past decade into starting this company. Mia has always had a thing for creative design and loves finding simple, everyday habits that make a big difference in how people feel. Her mix of creativity and a genuine passion for wellness helps shape the warm, approachable vibe behind Bare Smoking.

Partner
Basit is a seasoned retail entrepreneur with over a decade of hands-on experience in the cannabis and smoke shop industry. He founded his first shop, Aladdin Glass & Vape, in 2012 and has since accumulated more than 40,000 hours working directly with customers, helping them find the right products at the best value. Known for his deep product knowledge and customer-first approach, Basit has built a reputation for trust and consistency in a rapidly evolving market. He has also been involved with Bare Filter since its inception in 2020. At 34, Basit continues to bring passion, experience, and industry insight to every venture he’s part of.
Scott Anderson
Partner
Scott is a 30+ year Global Sales and Marketing Executive with deep expertise in nonwoven and woven Filtration product development, specializing in bringing innovative textile solutions to an array of markets across the world. With a strong understanding of both commercial strategy and technical performance, Scott bridges the gap between customer needs, product design, and launch to market. Scott’s experience spans international markets where he has built commercial partnerships and driven sustainable revenue growth. Scott excels at collaborating across R&D, procurement, manufacturing, and sales teams to accelerate development and deliver high-impact solutions. Passionate about Filtration innovation in nonwoven and woven textiles, Scott is committed to advancing products that meet evolving industry demands while creating long-term value for clients.
Richard Medina
Partner
Richard is President of RMM CONSULTING, LLC. In his 5-year tenure, Medina has contributed to manufacturers working on initiatives in Design, Product Development, Recreational Water Filtration as well as Product and Manufacturing Process improvements. Medina was also the Chief Engineer at Pleatco, LLC (now part of Pentair) where he served for over 14 years and was instrumental in green-fielding a manufacturing facility of cartridge filters and diatomaceous earth grids in Mexicali, Mexico. A 36-year veteran of the Pool and Spa industry, Medina has extensive manufacturing experience in all forms of pool filtration and the development of plastic injection, blow, and rotation molding tools as well as extensive knowledge in filtration media. Richard Medina holds a degree in BS of Aerospace Engineering and was a Captain (O-3) in the US Army Corp of Engineers.
