This article shares the results of our latest lab studies, where we put our product to the test. Our goal is straightforward: to better understand what’s actually being filtered, and how much of a difference it can make.
ASTM Level 2 Filtration:
ASTM testing establishes the professional benchmark for safety by measuring Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) and Sub-micron Particulate Filtration Efficiency (PFE)—metrics that determine the percentage of microscopic droplets and airborne particles a material can capture. To achieve an elite Level 2 rating, a mask must reach a rigorous 98% filtration benchmark while maintaining superior breathability and low airflow resistance. While standard "Level 1" masks used during the COVID-19 pandemic often provided a 95% filtration rate, our Level 2 media is engineered for a higher tier of protection. By reducing particle penetration by more than half compared to the baseline, our media is twice as efficient at keeping you safe while maintaining an exceptional airflow resistance of approximately 1.2mm H2O – a result significantly more breathable than the 5mm H2O limit required for high-performance classification.
Tar Removal:
We put the Bare Filter to the test to see exactly how much tar it stops from reaching you. Using a machine that simulates a human inhale, we measured how many harsh impurities were trapped by our filter. The results were clear: The Bare Filter captures 52% of cannabis tar in a single pass. By catching more than half of the heavy resins and "gunk" before they get through, Bare provides a significantly cleaner and smoother experience.
Cannabis Preservation:
While the Bare Filter is tough on tar, it is specially designed to let the "good stuff" through. Independent testing confirms that our media captures less than 1.3% of total cannabinoids and less than 0.2% of flavor-rich terpenes. This ensures that the potency and taste of your session are virtually unchanged, as the filter captures only a minimal amount of the active compounds. You get to enjoy the full effects of your flower with significantly fewer harsh impurities, giving you a cleaner experience without any compromise.
